In the Mirror of God is a place for Christian women to learn how spending more time with God equips us to conquer and enjoy life to the fullest!

Unfortunately, we live in a world today where there is less and less interest in learning the bible.  The Bible is depicted as being outdated, fictional, having little value, and to some, completely irrelevant The sad part is that many “Christians” are adapting to that same line of thinking, without even realizing it.

As women, we are bogged down by the busyness and challenges of everyday life (work, kids, taking care of the home, side hustles, etc.).  Then we spend the bulk of our spare time on social media, watching TV, and surfing the internet.  In the process, we are allowing life to rob us of our time with God.  Devotions, prayer, bible study, and church fellowship have become things we do only when it’s convenient, as a last resort when things get tough, or when we need something from God.

As a result, our daily routines begin to resemble a life of misery, in which we are exhausted by the circumstances and pressures of life.  We walk around depressed, worried, stressed out, angry, bitter, jealous, and confused.

We barely even realize it, as most of us have become so accustomed to it that it actually seems normal.  But in reality, instead of us conquering and enjoying life, life is conquering us.

But, God NEVER intended for us to live in misery as Christians, and just co-exist on earth with everyone else until we die.   Jesus died so that we would truly enjoy life to the fullest!

john 10:10 quote

Regardless of your marital status, age, race, job title, financial standing, or whether or not you have kids, as a Christian woman you do NOT have to continue to let life kick your butt!  God has equipped us with so much in His Word that will help us not only conquer ALL the circumstances and challenges of life but will also help us to be free to enjoy life in the process!

If you desire and are willing to learn to make this one tweak – spending more time with God – then I promise In the Mirror of God is the place for you!  No more just surviving, or getting by in life.  It’s time to start truly conquering and enjoying life – the way God intended!

How did In the Mirror of God get started?

2012 was by far the absolute lowest and darkest point in my life.  It was the year that I literally lost everything (my home, car, job of 8 years, husband, and church).  Sadly, it was the one point in my life where I actually considered suicide.

The Holy Spirit convicted me during that time to simply pick up my bible and start reading it again.  Although it was only a verse or two, here and there to start, you have no idea how that was the one thing that saved my life – spiritually, mentally, and physically.

A year later in 2013, God began to place a huge burden on my heart to teach other women about the importance of His Word.  To teach them how to read, learn, study, and even fall in love with the Word of God. To teach them how vital it is to spend time looking into our spiritual mirror (the bible) regularly so that we can cultivate a deeper relationship with God, conquer the challenges of life, and truly live and enjoy life the way God intended.

By 2014, I started writing my thoughts and what God was teaching me in a journal.  In 2016, I transferred several of those writings to my original blog entitled Deme in the Mirror.  By the end of 2019, God redirected my focus to develop an online ministry via the blog and to change the name to In the Mirror of God.

How can In the Mirror of God help you?

You may be wondering what type of specific help you can get from In the Mirror of God.

As you know by now, the #1 goal with this blog is to teach how vital God’s Word is in order for Christians to truly conquer the challenges of life and enjoy it to the fullest.   The problem is that most women struggle with how to get started.  They ask questions like:

  • What part of the bible do I start reading first?
  • How do I find time to read regularly?
  • How do I understand what I’m reading?

In the Mirror of God will teach you:

  • what the bible actually is and why it’s important
  • how we got the bible we have today
  • the key benefits of learning the bible
  • different methods to learn the bible
  • various resources available to help you learn the bible
  • ways to make learning the bible fun for you and your kids
  • things that hinder you from learning the bible

As women, we wear so many hats every single day.  I can’t imagine doing any of it without God.  The more time we spend with God, the more we can apply His Word in the different areas of our lives.  You will find content and resources on a variety of topics, such as those shown below, all centered around what the bible has to say about them:

  • anger
  • Christian Parenting
  • discipline
  • faith and trusting God
  • forgiveness
  • goal setting
  • patience
  • prayer
  • worry
  • and other faith-related topics

Last, but certainly not least, as women, we know how hard it is to find time to spend with our family, time for self-care, and time to actually enjoy ourselves in general.  But, I promise you, God’s Word not only teaches that we need to make time for these things, but it also teaches that God wants us to enjoy life!

About Demetra

Although In the Mirror of God is not about me, I’m honored to be the vessel God uses to help spread His Word via this online ministry.

I graduated with a B.S. in Biblical Studies from Philadelphia Biblical University (now Cairn University) in 2001.  I am currently back in Richmond, VA where I was born and raised.

Outside of work and ministry, I’m a single mother of an incredible teenage son, who other than God, has been my sole motivational factor.

I enjoy working out, reading, writing, red wine, listening to music of all genres, playing pool, trying out new restaurants, getting a massage, hot showers, and traveling.
